WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series Returns to Red Cedar Speedway This Friday, August 8th

The Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series is set to return to Red Cedar Speedway this Friday, August 8th, for what promises to be an exciting night of racing action in Menomonie, presented by Mars Race Cars and Keyes Chevytown.

Rice, Minnesota’s Shane Sabraski currently leads the Challenge Series points standings in his 7A late model. He holds a 16-point lead over Jeff Provinzino of Hibbing, Minnesota. Sitting third in the standings is Dave Mass of East Bethel, Minnesota, who trails Provinzino by just four points. With the standings so close, fans can expect intense competition from the drivers contending for the championship.

The last time the WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series visited Red Cedar Speedway was on August 13, 2021. That race was won by local standout Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, Wisconsin. With the series returning to Red Cedar for the first time in a few years, anticipation is high to see if another local driver can rise to the occasion.

The top three drivers in Red Cedar Speedway’s current Late Model track standings are James Giossi with 329 points, John Kaanta with 285 points, and Jim Carlson with 272 points. With a $3,000 payday on the line, the question remains—will a Red Cedar regular take the win, or will a touring driver capture the checkered flag?

Joining the WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series on Friday night’s race program are the USRA Late Models, WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, and RCS Hornets, making for a full evening of dirt track excitement.

General admission tickets are priced at $20 for adults, $17 for seniors, and $10 for students ages 13 to 17 or college students with a valid student ID. Children 12 and under are admitted free. The pit gate will open at 4:00 PM, with grandstands opening at 5:00 PM. Hot laps will begin at 6:00 PM, with the draw cut-off scheduled for 6:30 PM. Racing will get underway at 7:00 PM.

Fans won’t want to miss this special event as the stars of the WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series battle it out under the lights at Red Cedar Speedway.
